Distributive Property

Hello everybody I am back here again with the Distributive Property!!!!!! Today we'll review more about this totally important property to Algebra...

Well, first the distributive property is a property used to solve a(b+c), before, you would usually solve for b+c, and then multiply by a, but with the distributive property, you would DISTRIBUTE the a for both b and c, and then solve it.

So that is the basic thing, but lets go to the example,

Ex.:     2(1+3)
     2×+ 2×3
         + 6
            8

Now it's time to practice...

1. 4(3 + 5)
2. 5(7 - 4)
3. 3(x + y)
4. The Rosa family recently dined at an Japanese restaurant. Each of the four family members ordered a sushi combo that costs $20, tea that cost $2, and dessert that cost $3. What was the cost of dinning out for the Rosa family?
5. 4(6v + 2s - 2v)

Answers:

1. 32
2. 15
3. 3x + 3y
4. The equation used should be : 4(20 + 2 + 3), where 4 is the family members in which each ate the sushi combo + tea + dessert, 20 should be the sushi combo's price, 2 should be the tea's price, and 3 should be the dessert's price, everything's result is 100.
5. 16v + 8s

Thank you for the visit, and see you soon with our next topic in which is Relations, bye!
